The 5th Wave

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

First, they cut the electricity. Second, they sent massive earthquakes and tsunamis. Third, they spread a disease with an almost 100% death rate. Fourth, they became human. So what’s the fifth wave? They say no man or woman can be an island, but in the apocalypse, you might as well be the last human alive. And Cassie Sullivan is one of those islands. The Others have taken everything from her, and revenge is hot on her mind. After watching her mother die in the 3rd Wave, and coming back to camp to see her father dead in the 4th, it’s her belief that the inevitable 5th Wave will be her end. But before the Others took her brother away, Cassie made a promise to him: to always be by his side. So Cassie goes looking for her brother Sam, braving death and far worse on her journey. But will sheer determination be enough to overcome the many obstacles and dangers she will face? And can she get to him before the 5th wave hits? Read to find out more.

I was in love with this book! Though I haven’t shared much about them on this blog, I am SUCH a fan of the apocalyptic type books because A. they usually come with an amazing plot and dynamic characters and B. they are so thought-provoking! And The 5th Wave did not disappoint. I thought the author did such a great job with the twists and turns in this book, and most of the time, I was second-guessing the information he presented the reader with. I finished this book in less than 48 hours because I simply could not put it down! The 5th Wave is the first of three books in this series, and I am beyond excited to continue the trilogy. If you are a fan of alien conspiracy theories combined with dystopian novels, this book is the perfect match for you. Even if you aren’t familiar with the whole alien craze (which is more the category I fall under), I think you’ll still love this book as much as I did. Once I finish the second and third book, I’ll make sure to send out an update on my thoughts about the trilogy as a whole. But for now, just start reading The 5th Wave!

Thanks so much for reading! Be sure to check out the links below to purchase The 5th Wave book on Amazon, and also to learn more about the author Rick Yancey. If you haven’t read my last report on Lovely War, I highly suggest you do so! I even got a stamp of approval from the author, Julie Berry, down in the comments section, so be sure to go check that book out as well. But once again, if you are looking for a great read to snuggle up with next to the fire or you’re looking to feel warm and cozy inside your home this fall, I would highly recommend reading The 5th Wave. If you enjoy the book, make sure also to go check the movie out as well. That’s all for now, and I’ll see y’all in another two weeks! Happy reading!
